Snapshots of the past weekend

Starting from Tuesday, just wanted to show you guys Ted's new hair. It's the kind of hair colour that's expensive to create and then fades straight away. What a waste.. But when I saw him after work I thought the colour suited him better than originally expected. I expected for him to have like.. Kim Kardashian blonde and just be absolutely shocking on his complexion but it was alright. He was sad that the bleaching got rid of his perm though.. R.I.P. perm. You lived a good 5 days.

Ted in all his blondeness. Was more ashy but artificial light was shining on it.
So on Tuesday night myself and Ted parted ways and I went home to my parent's. I had an opticians appointment the next day back in Bexleyheath kind of early, so I decided to go home for it. I wanted to get this done before Japan since they were withholding delivery of my contact lenses from being so overdue for a check-up. My manager was kind enough to let me work from home instead of taking it from my annual leave, which is honestly not a privilege that many if any iterns get. It was strange to try and get into work mode whilst snuggled in bed, but I did cheekily wake up a little late, and take a little while in town.
Choosing glasses at Specsavers. French Connection or Karl Lagerfeld?
So I spent quite a while at the opticians since the guy checking my eyes was majorly unimpressed that I hadn't been for a sight test since 2011. Oops...
Seems like my eyes are healthy, but eyesight has gotten a little worse - I expected this. I went from -3.25 and -3.00 to -3.75 both eyes, but he prescribed me this for glasses and -3.50 for lenses. Since I'm on a direct debit scheme I could get money off of glasses. Sadly I can't replace the lenses in my Tommy Hilfiger pair as the frames wouldn't survive the glazing process, but I think I'll wear them occasionally. I decided on Karl Lagerfeld by the way. Who doesn't love a bit of Karl?

Miniature roses are just so adorable. Look at those colours too! So nice.
Strolling around in Bexleyheath I couldn't let myself go home empty-handed (despite feeling a serious void in my wallet courtesy of Specsavers) and since I would be missing mother's day this sunday, I wanted to give my mum a little something for now, just to brighten her day. She's the type who quite likes flowers, but isn't too flashy. So some little roses I thought would be cute. They weren't expensive either! And had loads of lovely colours.

Purchases of the day, roses and card for my mum. Restock a shower gel I've been quite liking (pink peony and raspberry - you need to smell it!) some spare toothbrushes since I'm travelling, rose vaseline and a month's worth of lenses with my new prescription.
Popped to Ikea with my parents, we had my fave of course.
So after coming home I spent a good few hours at my laptop squirreling away answering emails and requests. By the time I heard my parents come home I was finishing up, and they suggested earlier to go to Ikea for me to help with their kitchen renovation and some translating. What I thought would be a quick trip turned into a 2.5 hour sit down with a staff member to discuss kitchen planning. Ah.. that was draining. I didn't even understand a lot of the points she was making about the kitchen so we went round in circles at times. But the assistant was super helpful, patient and friendly. I really commend her! Ikea customer service now I think about it is rather friendly.
Printouts for the Japan trip. Neatly organised at work!
At work I printed a bunch of documents we would need including boarding pass, our daily planners, apartment details etc. Then put it into a nice little folder after stapling and paper-clipping. I'm not intern for nothing you know.

my NY - DKNY Eau De Parfum 50ml, body lotion 100ml
So I made a purchase after work (after all the errands I was running buying toiletries) since looking at the duty-free prices I found that they weren't actually too cheap since it was a bare discount off of RRP. Decided to go into The Perfume Shop and see what they had, and hopefully find something in my price range (ie. not expensive, it's just a holiday perfume). Sales assistants naturally tried to get me to buy £50 fragrances when I said max £40, but one lady ended up helping me who wasn't much older and was friendly with a laid-back selling style. I prefer this a lot more and after smelling a whole stack of testers I decided on the DKNY since it was such a steal at this price. Drumroll please.. £24.99! I mean seriously, it stood out amongst the other perfumes, plus it had a 100ml lotion. I was looking for something quite floral since I prefer those scents. Others tend to remind me too much of sweets, or nail polish remover.. Although saying that Prada Candy was my favourite until this came up.

Cute little heart shape

So I wouldn't say woah guys I found my next big hit, but I think it's nice enough to use during my holiday. On my skin I can pick up some light vanilla tones.. and if you know me you may know I dislike the scent of 'fake' vanilla. It's only subtle though. Plus the price really sold me, I've been spending a lot on the run up to Japan just because I've had errands to run and just.. necessities you know? I mean that in a serious way though, not in the shopaholic sense. It frustrates me when there's new spending required so often but that's just life. I can't survive on zero. I can splash when I'm in Japan though! Those thoughts have been keeping me alive.

Probably my last post before the holiday! I have major packing to do. So far all I've done is chuck some clothes into my empty suitcase. Not good...
